Mares for Sale

SMF Bright Revel Lace "Ella" (not easy gaited)

This beautiful 4-year-old mare is Ella, a 1/4 Arab 3/4 Appaloosa out of Something Unique and by NorthStar Bright Sun.  She is sweet, friendly, and confident - one of the first horses to come up to you in the pasture and often one to follow you around in the pasture. Fencing work can be tricky with this one around, always a couple feet behind you!  Her conformation is similar to her elegant 1/2 Arab dam's, but her sire gave her a little more of a solid build and even better legs plus put his trademark on her - a fantastic mind, partner attitude, and inquisitive nature. She was born a bay with a spotted blanket and now has roaned to a lovely not-quite-a-leopard look with dark brown legs, ears, and frontal bone.  She has a very sparse mane and a very nice forelock, but her tail is starting to come in nicely now that she has shed out the black hairs and gotten in white hairs.  Maybe her mane will do the same! She is accustomed to ducks, dogs, cats, small children, and some road traffic.  She is very well rounded in her ground manners, including blanketing, spraying, bathing, vaccinations, deworming, farrier work, and leading. She has been saddled and hand walked down the road, over bridges, past barking dogs, 4 wheelers, and other distractions. She will be a small horse, likely no more than 14.3 hands and probably closer to 14.1 or 14.2. This is a horse we've actually considered keeping for our young daughter even though she doesn't fit into our breeding program and is a daughter of our stallion - yes, she's that great!

pedigree
On the Appaloosa side: she is the great-granddaughter of Ulrich Sioux Chief, full brother to Ulrich's Monarch, plus the pedigree includes Mansfield's Comanche 8x (Hall of Fame), Bandido 2x, Sundance 3x (Hall of Fame), Navajo's Candy 2x, Joker B (Hall of Fame), Joker's Monte, Prince Plaudit (Hall of Fame), Brent Lea, Jet Pilot (JC, Kentucky Derby winner), Bright Eyes Brother (Hall of Fame), Barely Brightly, Revel Jr., Simcoe's Chinook, Double Six Domino (Hall of Fame), Red Eagle (Hall of Fame), Patchy (Hall of Fame), and Patchy Jr. (Hall of Fame) - 9 different ApHC Hall of Fame horses a total of 18 times.

On the Arabian side: she is the great-granddaughter of the U.S. National Champion stallion Gamaar and of the National Champion producer Bint Gesakkla, great-great-granddaughter of U.S. Top Ten stallion Gesakkla, plus the pedigree includes Witez II, Ferzon, Raseyn, Skowronek, and many horses from the Crabbet stables and the Kellogg stud.

Sorry, this one is off the sales list at least for a while! This girl is going to be given a lot of experience over the next few years and then will be an experienced enough mount for our kids when they are right at the age when they need a small horse instead of a pony!

She is registered with IPAA (Appaloosa Part-breed), Sundance 500, ICAA, and Appaloosa Horse Club, plus she is eligible for registration with CRHA and IPSHR.

LP = leopard complex (App characteristics); E = black gene; A = agouti/bay gene
We know that Ella is LP/lp, A/a; she is either E/e or E/E.  She carries a blanket pattern gene.

Ella and her dam Unique (also for sale)
We now have a short video from June 20, 2009 that show some of Ella's speed and playful nature while at freedom "playing" with a bicycle zipping through his pasture. The video is far from perfect since Ella kept running at the camera or moving in unexpected directions, so a new video will hopefully be posted soon!
